My {current} system for building tools

The Hub is the sixth version of my AI building process.

It grew out of building a tool that turns songs into guitar tabs. It had to be cheap to run and consistent enough to trust.

My {current} workflow

The workflow now has 25 steps (!!). Each one came from something that went wrong or felt wasteful. The last step, Lessons โ†’ rules, turns each failure into a written rule.

I wanted to build it well

I knew Iโ€™d be maintaining this, and every project after it, for a long time. But I didnโ€™t expect to enjoy building this much.

The design system exists because I wanted to change the design from a UI instead of a text file. The control center exists because I was tired of terminal commands I kept forgetting.

I adapted ideas I liked

I tried frameworks like Superpowers first. They came with a lot of machinery and ceremony, and burned tokens doing it. I borrowed parts from ponytail, cursor, Matt Pocock and many others and adapted them.

Every step is a small, self-contained module that can be inspected on its own. When something feels off, I check one or two steps instead of auditing the whole system again.
